York Settlement Community Players (founded 1919) is an amateur theatre group based in York City Centre that has been going for over 100 years. We stage two major productions each year, usually one at York Theatre Royal Studio in February and one at Theatre@41, Monkgate in October.

In addition, we have a pub theatre initiative, 'The Direct Approach,' which gives aspiring directors a chance to gain valuable experience directing performers in a stripped back environment. We have occasional workshops and playreadings, a Christmas Extravaganza and our own improv group - Unsettled.

In 2024 we staged Terence Rattigan's Separate Tables - directed by Helen Wilson - at York Theatre Royal studio for 10 sold-out performances and Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile - directed by Natalie Roe - for 6 performances. We also put on Sally Mitcham's short new play It's Complicated at The Black Swan
