WE TRIED: Hallowtween 2024

By Craig Hey-Shipton

Looking for a thrilling way to celebrate Halloween? We recently attended the Hallowtween event at the York Maze site, and it was absolutely fantastic!

We started our adventure with the four twisted haunted houses—Corny’s Cornevil, Barnaggedon 3D, The Singularity, and The Flesh Pot. Each one was creatively designed and packed with scares that had us jumping out of our skin! The atmosphere was electric, with live stage acts and crazy characters roaming about, keeping the excitement alive and creating a great Halloween party atmosphere.

If you have kids aged 10-15, Hallowtween is a must! We visited on Sunday, October 27, and we all had a blast. The event featured spooky attractions and some tailored experiences for older kids. They loved the roaming street theatre characters and the new stage performances that kept them entertained between scares.

The spooky makeup station was a hit (just a little extra), and the fairground rides (extra charge) were thrilling! The Halloween gift shop had some fun goodies, and the food at Fodder Barn was delicious—perfect for refuelling after all the excitement and we enjoyed some tasty treats while deciding which attraction to hit next. There was something for everyone, making it a perfect outing for the whole family!

Meeting the Halloween Owls was a unique touch that we all enjoyed, adding an educational element to the fun!

Hallowtween is highly recommended for kids 10+, but younger children can enjoy it too, as long as they’re accompanied by an adult. Book your tickets now-they will sell out quickly!

Hallowtween promises a frightful fun time for families and friends alike. Don’t miss out—get your tickets now!

Hallowtween is only on until Thursday the 31st of October, so make sure to book your tickets as soon as possible. They’re available here
