Christmas at Castle Howard 2024: Everything you need to know

Read on to learn more about the newest event coming to Castle Howard — Introducing Alice’s Christmas Wonderland.

Alice’s Christmas Wonderland

Curiouser and curiouser! Tumble down the rabbit hole into a Christmassy wonderland like no other.

Alice is planning a huge Christmas party, and she invites you to follow the White Rabbit through Castle Howard’s grand halls and regal rooms with each twist and turn revealing fanciful festive surprises.

Don’t be late for this very important date, as you immerse yourself in a psychedelic world that will leave your smile as wide as the Cheshire Cat’s.

CLW Event Design, the amazing team behind last year’s award-winning Christmas in Neverland, are set to create their most fantastical experience yet, with the House transformed using theatrical installations to bring Lewis Carroll’s iconic characters to life.

Calm Sessions
22, 23, 24 November
9.30am – 10am

These sessions are designed to create a more relaxed environment for visitors who would prefer a quieter space to enjoy our Christmas installations. Specifically, there are fewer slots available making for a less-busy environment in the main House, and reduced lighting and sound effects.

Father Christmas in the Castle

Meet Father Christmas, Mrs Claus and jolly WonderPhil at Castle Howard this Christmas. Watch a joyful performance bursting with jingle bells and Christmas spirit, sing Christmas songs together, and enjoy a special, individual moment with Father Christmas himself. All children take home a Christmas gift.

Enjoy a full day out at Castle Howard with a Father Christmas in the Castle experience, which includes access to Alice’s Christmas Wonderland in the main House, and access to the Gardens.

Bookings allow a maximum of two adults per booking – this helps us make sure there is plenty of space in the room for children. Children aged 12 months and under are free (Babe in Arms), but can only be purchased with a Child ticket. For example, you cannot purchase two adults and a free Babe in Arms ticket, you must have a Child ticket in your basket. Only paid-for children receive a gift.

Father Christmas in the Castle is located in the historic High South up two flights of stone steps. It is regretfully not wheelchair accessible. Santa’s Grotto in the Boathouse and Alice’s Christmas Wonderland are wheelchair accessible.

Enjoy a full day out at Castle Howard with a Santa’s Grotto in the Boathouse ticket, which includes access to the Gardens. If you’d like to add tickets to our main House event, Alice in Christmas Wonderland, you can do so on the next screen. The Boathouse is located next to the Skelf Island Adventure Playground.
