Your local gardening groups in York

With Spring upon us, and summer well on its way, now is the time to get back in the garden and get digging, planting, and trimming before it’s too late! Fortunately for us amateur gardeners and outdoor adventurers, there are plenty of experts around to offer the advice we need. Read on to find the community for you.

24 April, 7.45pm, Sutton-on-the-Forest & Huby Gardening Club Meeting, Grey Village Hall, Sutton. Attendance is £5 for visitors. Simon White of Beales Roses will give a talk on an ‘A-Z’ of Roses. Book in advance by contacting djj3@btinternet.com or call 01347810208. 

4 May, 10.30am, Grow How (Bedding plant demonstration), Dobbies Garden Centre, Upper Poppleton, York. An interactive 15-minute session with one of Dobbies’ horticultural experts, followed by an ask-the-expert session. Visit www.events.dobbies.com for more information. 

11 May, 2-4pm, Nature Adventurers Session, St Nicks Nature Reserve, Rawdon Avenue, York. Join qualified Forest School Practitioner Christine Banham to learn about den-building, foraging, campfire cooking, woodland crafts, storytelling and more. Visit www.stnicks.org.uk for more information.
