Glossa: Grab a seat at York’s “Communication Cafe”

There’s nothing more important to getting by in day-to-day life than communication. Whether it’s sharing the events of the day with loved ones over a cup of tea or seeking solace after a tough day, communication is key. Yet, it’s important to recognize that many adults in our community face challenges with their speech, language, or communication.

Fortunately, Glossa, a speech and language therapy practice based here in York, are running their first Communication Café events this April. They will provide a welcoming and supportive environment (with plenty of cake and coffee) for individuals dealing with speech, memory, cognitive, language, or fluency issues.

The café environment will be social but supportive, with Speech & Language Therapists on hand to help where needed. The sessions are not limited to any specific type of condition but could be helpful for people who find communication hard after a stroke, live with Parkinson’s Disease, have experienced a brain injury, have a learning disability or a stammer.

Upcoming events are on Wednesday the 24th of April at Costa Coffee in Haxby from 10am-12pm and Friday the 26th of April at the Folk Hall in New Earswick from 2-4pm in The Eatery.
