From the 26th until the 28th of January 2024, more than 700,000 people are expected to assist the RSPB’s wildlife preservation efforts by monitoring the birds that come to visit their garden.
As a volunteer, all you have to do is spend an hour watching the birds in your garden or local park and record what you see. Even if there aren’t many birds around every observation reported to the RSPB is vital to their research.
The Big Garden Birdwatch is one of the RSPB’s most important resources — it provides crucial data on which species are flourishing and which are struggling in Britain. Tragically over the four decades since the survey began, the number of birds in Britain have dropped by as much as 38 million. To keep on top of things the charity need all the help they can get.
