Two new “micro-woods” to be grown in honour of the King

York City Council have announced that two new woods — each the size of a tennis court— will be planted in the city.

The new woods will be fully funded by a £39,000 grant the council have secured from the Coronation Living Heritage Fund — to commemorate the Coronation of Charles III.

Councillor Jenny Kent said, “We can’t wait to showcase small scale, high density, native tree planting in York. We would love to hear your suggestions for planting sites.”

If you have an idea for a location for any of the new woods, you can submit a suggestion to yorkgreenstreets@york.gov.uk by 31 January 2024.
