Kevin Sinfield began his 7 in 7 in 7 endurance challenge on the 1st of December, arriving at York Minster at 4pm— having set off from Headingly Stadium in Leeds, where he made a name playing over 500 games for the Rhinos throughout an 18-year playing career.
The journey to York Minster was just the first leg in a series of 7 ultra marathons —each 27.2 miles in length— across more cities around the country in order to raise awareness and money in support of people impacted by motor neurone disease (MND).
Kevin’s former team-mate Rob Burrow was diagnosed with the condition in 2019. In the years since, the seven-time Super League champion has raised millions across three separate endurance events. He says that the 7 ultra-marathons were just the next step in “celebrating Rob and showing people we care.”
At time of publication the fundraiser has already surpassed their goal of raising £777,777 for MND. The total is now well over the £1 million mark!
After Kevin’s arrival in York he moved to Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin, Brighton before ending with a race from Twickenham Stadium on The Mall in London.
