The Conservation Volunteers - Practical Conservation

Carry out practical tasks to improve green spaces in and around York for people and wildlife.

Spring & Summer

• Vegetation control e.g. thistle, ragwort and bracken
• Invasive species control e.g. Himalayan Balsam
• Habitat management such as meadow maintenance

Autumn & Winter

• Woodland management including coppicing and thinning
• Tree planting and hedge laying
• Pond and wetland maintenance

All Year Round

• Access work e.g. footpaths, bridges, boardwalks
• Fence installation
• Construction e.g. raised beds, outdoor classrooms

No experience required, everyone is welcome! Guidance, tools, minibus transport and hot drinks are provided.
