Keep your home nice and cool this summer with these five handy tips.
Cotton on!
Sick of waking up all clammy? Choose bed sheets that are made from natural fibres. Breathable cotton will keep most excess moisture at bay.
Close those curtains
If your home feels like a permanent oven, try to keep the curtains closed where possible. Less direct sunlight throughout the day will mean your home will remain cooler.
Number one fan
If you have ceiling fan blades, make sure you set them to spin counterclockwise during the summer. Moving in this direction will push the air down and in turn, create a delicious breeze. You can thank us later!
Alfresco feasts
If you have space and the means to cook outside, eliminate the need for any excess heat from the oven and cook and eat outside instead. Alternatively, using a slow cooker may decrease any heat output too.
Cool the couch
Ahh, the old leather sofa. Very comfortable, but before long you have the ordeal of peeling yourself off it. Cool your couch down by putting a lightweight throw over it. Even a natural-fibre bed sheet will do!
