Local bus operator, Reliance Motor Services have just launched a brand new, much anticipated Late Bus Service serving York to Easingwold. Starting from Friday 9th June, passengers can depart from Exhibition Square or Station Avenue as late as 10:30pm on a Friday or Saturday evening. They have also introduced some midweek evening journeys.
The enhancements to bus routes, 30 and 40 will cover Skelton, Shipton, Tollerton, Alne, Easingwold, Stillington, Huby, Sutton on the Forest and Eastmoor and will no doubt save locals a fortune on taxi costs after a lovely evening in the city. It is also hoped that they can support local businesses by providing the option of later travel between villages on the routes.
We spoke with Hollie from Reliance Busses who commented “As a local, family-run bus operation we are keen to ensure our services are based on the requirements of the local passengers. A late bus service has been requested by our passengers and has been part of our future plans for a long time but the uncertainty of the pandemic had put a halt to this. We have now begun to see our passenger numbers return to pre-pandemic levels which has given us the confidence to introduce the late bus service”.
Reliance have served the local community for over 80 years across York and North Yorkshire whilst providing the much desired link between York and Easingwold also further afield including Thirsk, Northallerton, Ripon and Helmsley.
