It’s a wild life

Celebrating its 10th year, the much-anticipated family wildlife day at Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens makes a return this summer. Offering families the opportunity to meet with various conservations organisations, and get up close to a diverse range of wildlife, engaging in exciting activities such as learning about local hedgehog rescue projects, dissecting owl pellets, meeting rescue bats, and taking part in a bumblebee walk to name a few.

The special event aims to inspire the next generation to be wildlife friendly and look at all the ways in which we can protect wildlife and provide them with a thriving habitat. Garden creator, Vanessa Cook, said:

“We are absolutely passionate about wildlife and helping inspire young people to care for our precious Yorkshire wildlife and habitats. This event is always incredibly popular, offering such a unique chance to get hands-on with wildlife. We’d love to help even more young people have a unique encounter with nature and leave brim full with ideas for how they can play their role in helping it flourish.”

Visitors to the event can tour the entire four-acre garden, which has been naturally kept and managed for four decades and is often used for wildlife surveys.

The event will run on Sunday 25th June from 11am to 4pm. Advanced family tickets for the event cost £20 but tickets can also be purchased on the day for £8 per adult and £4 per child.
