Record Christmas charity funds raised

The Christmas of 2022 saw a near record-breaking year for the Rotary York Ainsty’s Santa visits, thanks to the generosity of York residents. Working in collaboration with other local charities, the Ainsty Rotary team started their travels with Santa on December the 1st and throughout the month, journeyed across the city to spread Christmas cheer. These exciting Santa visits across the month raised significant funds of almost £10,000 for deserving charitable organisations, across the region.

Rotary York Ainsty president, Dudley Valentine, said: “We give a very special thanks to York City Council (Front Street, Acomb), Morrison’s Supermarket, at both Acomb and Foss Island, and to Tesco at Askham Bar and Clifton Moor for permitting us to collect in their localities – raising monies for Community Sparks, Rotary many and various charities and St Leonard’s Hospice respectively.”

He continued: “If readers are interested in learning more about Rotary and its projects or in helping out / using their skills and talents on any of our community projects, they should contact Past President Peter Kendall on 01904 331538 – or e-mail pr.kendall@ntlworld.com.
