Widely known as the ‘Notting Hill of the North’, Bishopthorpe Road is renowned for its array of independent shops and charming eateries. New to the Bishy Road foodie scene, is the joint venture between Rad Pizza Shop’s, Alex Brinton and Spaghetti Junction’s, Alessandro Venturi, which opened its doors last week at its site in the Angel on the Green.
Alex has worked at the helm of popular pizza eatery, Rad Pizza Shop within Spark for almost three years, whilst Alessandro is recognised for his demonstrations at the annual York Food and Drink Festival as well as his successful previous venture at A’ROMA PastaBar in Shambles Market, amongst other impressive accolades. The duo initially met during an event at Rad, which then sparked the idea for a brand new project.
Talking of the success of their first week in business, Alessandro comments: “The first week at the Angel on the Green was bellissimo! It is really a great feeling to be back to do Roman-style pasta in York after many years.”
The menu features a range of delicious, authentic pasta and pizza, dishes of which are, as Alessandro continues, “…dedicated to my masters who taught me cooking as a way of life.” From Strozzapreti, Alfredo, and Special Fried Pasta to Roasted Squash, Meatball, or Mariana Pizza, there is something guaranteed to appeal to every taste.
