Over 50 years after the original film of The Railway Children graced our screens, comes its sequel, The Railway Children Return. Set during World War II, the story gives viewers a real sense of how the countryside acted as a form of escapism for many children. The film features many of the original film’s fantastic Yorkshire locations. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, a key train line from the original film features massively, as do various stations along its route, such as Oakworth and Damems. In both Railway Children films, trains are used not just as modes of transport, but also as a hiding place. Trains become a metaphor for bravery and selfless action in this classic series.
The Railway Children Return was released in cinemas on 15th July 2022.
