Yesterday evening, one of the UK’s top five-star hotels, The Grand, invited some lucky Yorkshire folk to sneak an exclusive peek of their stylish new fine-dining restaurant, Legacy.
Offering a delicious, innovative eight-course tasting menu, Legacy is a sustainably led restaurant that prides itself on its northern roots. With carefully selected seasonal dishes that showcase Yorkshire’s finest produce, talented Head Chef, Ahmed Abdalla applies modern cooking across the menu, complimented by the perfect wine pairings chosen by expert Sommelier and Legacy Restaurant Manager, Derek Scaife.
Speaking on the night of his inspiration behind this exciting menu, Abdalla comments, “We wanted to bring something new to the city. Our ethos within the restaurant is sustainability, seasonality and using amazing local produce our suppliers have.” From beautifully barbecued langoustine to a unique Jersey Royal velouté (we won’t give too many spoilers!), Abdalla has created incredible combinations of flavour with each dish.
The restaurant itself, officially opened last night by the Lord Mayor of York and the Civic Party, is also quite the spectacle. Its intricate blue and gold decor featuring Edwardian oak panelling pays homage to its history and gives a real air of sophistication to the intimate restaurant.
Legacy officially opens its doors today to the public and judging by its successful launch, will be a venue that is sure to live up to its name.
