Keep Your Pet celebrates 10 years with a poetry competition

Keep your pet poetry competition

Founded in 2012, Keep Your Pet is a service run by Age UK, York. The service aims to help people in York and its surrounding areas to look after their pets during times of ill health or other difficulties. The services come free of charge and are run by a team of volunteers who have all had extensive training.

Now celebrating its 10th year, Keep Your Pet has launched a poetry competition to help spread the word about the good work they do. Readers are invited to submit a poem based on the subject of pets in general or a specific pet. Submissions can be serious or fun, in rhyme or can be from any point of view you wish, the more imaginative the better!

The winning poem will be published in the Your Local Link Magazine November edition plus there is a chance for it to be read out on Radio York. The winner will also receive a £20 Betty’s voucher.

To enter, send your piece with your name and contact details to keepyourpet@ageukyork.org.uk or by post to: Keep Your Pet, St. Edmund’s House, Margaret Street, York YO10 4UX. Entries cost £5 each and are payable via the Keep Your Pet website or by cheque to AGE UK York (writing KYP on the back). Entries must be sent by the 14th October 2022.
