York Design Awards return for 2022

After a two-year long hiatus due to COVID, the York Design Awards have finally returned, and there’s just a month to enter.

The York Design Awards showcase York’s finest quality building design and architecture. Typically featuring designs from over the last three years, it’s been extended to projects from up to five years ago in order to allow talented designers to show off their work from during the pandemic.

For anyone who wishes to apply, a friendly reminder that it’s free to enter, but applications must be done by the 31st March.

And to anyone with a keen interest in design and architecture, or even just someone who wants to simply admire impressive buildings with a cup of tea, it should be exciting to know that the awards show is also completely free, with the event taking place on the 4th July. Sorry America, we have more important things going on.

Ann Reid, Chair of the York Design Awards Committee said in a recent statement: “We’re delighted that the York Design Awards can take place again this year. We have extended the criteria to enable those projects completed in the last five years to enter the awards.”

“The awards are unique in that an independent panel of judges from throughout the UK, spend two days in York visiting every entry. This was not possible during the height of the pandemic, but we are confident that this year the judging can take place safely”.
