From car parks to resident permits, the City of York Council has launched a new digital parking permit system that aims to save paper and make parking hassle-free. Residents, businesses and visitors can now manage their parking permits and penalty charge notices digitally.
Cllr Andy D’Agorne, Executive Member for Transport, at City of York Council, said: “The new system brings a number of benefits for residents and businesses, including a hassle-free instant application response, the ability to make instant changes to permits – and for eligible permits, and being able to swap permits from one vehicle to another.”
People won’t need to wait for a paper permit to arrive in the post anymore, and civil enforcement offices can now scan number plates to find out if a vehicle has permission to park or not.
Existing paper permits will be valid until they expire, and ‘scratch card’ visitor passes will remain valid indefinitely. For people without access to the internet, you can get support with your digital parking pass by making an appointment with the Council’s customer services at West Offices or access the internet at any York Library.
