It’s not too often we’d write a good news story about something normally associated with sadness, bereavement, and, well, death. Planning a funeral for a loved one is often bittersweet – while it’s full of heartbreak at the knowledge of losing the deceased, it’s also a special time to honour their life and pay your respects.
And now, there’s a whole new, eco-friendly way of doing that.
John Campbell and the team at The Electric Transport Shop have electrified a bike to create the world’s first ELECTRIC BIKE HEARSE. Yeah, you read that right.
An estimated 600,000 funerals take place each year in the UK. Now, when you’re planning a funeral, protecting the environment probably isn’t at the top of your priority list – but just think for a second at exactly how many hearses that means. Now think of the emissions. Ouch.
An electric bike hearse isn’t going to be for everyone, sure. But for the person who loves to be different; for the person who cares deeply about their carbon footprint; for the person who wants to turn heads; and for the person who wants to make a strong statement about improving the world around us, this is quite something.
And here’s a thought: take the bike off and replace it with a horse. You got yourself a horse hearse. I’m trademarking that one.
