York walking group take on three peaks for charity

Yorkie Talkies, a Yorkshire based walking group, is set to take on the National Three Peaks for charity on June 1.  

The team, which is made up of walkers of all abilities, is taking on the 26 miles and 9843ft vertical assent in order to raise funds for York Special Care baby Unit, Upper Wharfdale Fell Rescue association, RAFA, Macmillian, Cancer Research , State of Mind Sport, Cardiac Risk in the young and Sense. They have a target of £3600. The group has 133 members and is completely free to join.  

Emma Shipley, one of the organisers of Yorkie Talkies, said: “Everyone has chosen a charity which is close to their heart and raising our targets high to raise as much as we can for these amazing charities. 

This challenge will be the hardest I have done yet and there will be lots of training involved please keep a look out for my updates.”
