There’s something about hedgehogs that we all love. From their cute little faces as they scamper about in the garden, to the cartoon advert where the little hedgehogs teach you how to safely cross the road. And then, of course, there’s Sonic.
Emma Farley is a fellow hedgehog lover – in fact, she’s created her own rescue centre for our prickly pals. And as well as rehabilitating sick and injured hedgehogs, Emma is also a jeweler, and makes a range of handmade items inspired by wildlife and nature.
“I rehabilitate sick and injured hedgehogs and then release them back to the wild,” says Emma. “I have a small urban garden, but it’s packed with wildlife features – insect- and bee-friendly planting, a wildlife pond, a giant insect hotel, hedgehog houses, and hedgehog highways.”
And Emma’s skills as a jeweler continue to promote the protection of our spiky buddies in other ways, too. “I make a range of handmade jewellery inspired by nature and wildlife. This includes my new range of tiny hand-sculpted micro hedgehogs in solid silver.”
