Alert: this is not a drill. Get the nun costume that you bought for Lorraine’s 50th birthday party out of the loft. The Sound of Music is coming to York for a special 60th anniversary production.
That’s right – from the 12th-20th April you can find out exactly how to solve a problem like Maria. The stellar York Stage Musicals cast, led by the sensational Joanne Theaker as Maria and two teams of the most talented children from around the region, will be demonstrating their performing prowess in front of audiences at the Grand Opera House York – and you definitely won’t want to miss it!
The classic musical from Rogers and Hammerstein, based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, tells the tale of Maria – a young woman who isn’t doing too well at becoming a nun. As Maria brings the Von Trapp family together through the power of music, we see the world that surrounds them dividing as the country prepares for the Nazi invasion – and the inevitable Anschluss in Austria.
Featuring the songs we all know and love – such as My Favourite Things; So Long, Farewell; Sixteen Going on Seventeen; Do-Re-Mi; and, of course, The Sound of Music. This is a poignant show that champions humanity whilst echoing the times we live in.
Don’t miss this incredible show performed by York’s equally-incredible York Stage Musicals – get your tickets today from www.atgtickets.com/venues/grand-opera-house-york, or call 0844 871 3024.
