“Cometh the hour, cometh the man.”
Perhaps in the case of Sean Bullick, “cometh the man, cometh the hour”, because Make It York’s new top boy has got previous.
Sean Bullick has been appointed the new Managing Director of Make It York, the city’s premier destination management company. However, “with great power comes great responsibility”, in the words of the late great Stan Lee. Luckily, Mr Bullick is far from green when it comes to handling top jobs and even has a fair share of success under his belt to boot.
Coming to York after 12 years at the helm of the award-winning and internationally-acclaimed Newcastle Business Improvement District (BID), he certainly hasn’t spent his tenure ‘North’ resting on his laurels. Since 2010, Sean’s initiatives have propelled Newcastle’s evening economy up to 800 million. These successful ideas include the push for a 25 million pound redevelopment of Newcastle Central Station and famed Bigg Market, as well as the transformative ‘Alive After Five’ Campaign.
But all that being said, York has hardly been on the slip itself. This summer’s Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre was a success and the St Nicholas Fair has developed into a six week Christmas extravaganza. Not to mention being voted as ‘The best place to live’ by the Sunday Times. With Mr Bullick due to officially join Make It York this coming January, it seems we might have the making of our very own super (tourism marketing) team!
