New York Nails has arrived on Bridge Street, York. The salon, which joins its sister salon, USA Nails on Gillygate, opened its doors just over a month ago. We sent Krystal Starkey down to check it out…
I was today years old when I learnt that while you can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a manicure and it’s kind of the same thing.
Salon synopsis
Getting your nails done, gives you time to sit back and reflect, watching your hands get pretty is actually a peaceful process. New York Nails are experts in what they do and they don’t overlook this part of the experience. It’s a super chill vibe in there, with three point massage chairs at every station and complimentary hot and cold drinks. Bliss.
Nailed it
Choosing what design to have is part of the fun and the biggest decision you make with your nails. Opting for a rounded square shape with a short length – I asked salon owner, Tran, what design she would recommend. We chose a nude ombre using acrylic powders.
First things first – my nails now look amazing. I have short, stubby fingers, so I didn’t want to go for anything too long or extravagant. The nails I came out with compliment my hands perfectly. Short in nature, like my fingers, but with a dainty gradient and light extension to give a more feminine appearance.
My nail technician worked quickly and accurately – within 45 minutes I had an immaculate set of acrylics and was ready to go.
What you need to know
Prices at New York Nails are reasonable by all accounts. You can expect to pay £25 for a full set, while if you opt for an acrylic powder ombre, (the most expensive treatment ) you’ll come out paying just £38. As well as being nail gurus, Tran’s team offer skin care, laser hair removal, and beauty services such as lashes and brows.
