Get Lost: York Maze is officially A-maize-ing

We all know award shows are corny, and York Maze wouldn’t have it any other way as they walk away with the gong for outstanding customer service!

So you’re lost in a maze, a maize maze and all that is between you and your freedom is more than one million cobs of corn, over 15 acres. As you relentlessly run through the endless labyrinth of gold, you start to wonder if you’ll ever get out but more importantly if you’re actually running around the face of a beloved pop culture character. Finally you fall to your knees, tears streaming down your cheeks, only to be shaded from the hot sun by the shadow of your rather embarrassed 12-year-old daughter, who has found the exit.

‘First class customer service is embedded into the culture. It’s what good customer service is all about.’

The swanky gala, or as it is official known, The Welcome To Yorkshire White Rose Awards is an annual event celebrating the very best of tourism in Yorkshire. This years ceremony was hosted by BBC’ s Look North darlings Amy Garcia and Harry Graiton, who dished out gongs for everything from best producer and maker to top art and culture venue.

York Maze not only took the top spot for outstanding customer service but was also finalist for tourism event of the year for their Hallowscream extravaganza. In regards to the winning award one judge said of York Maze, ‘The staff go above and beyond at every opportunity, they are friendly, attentive and well trained. It’s obvious they know staff can make or break a visitor’s experience.’

York Maze is currently closed for the season, (corn does t grow over night you know) and is rescheduled to reopen in mid July 2019 for another year of a-maze-ing fun for the whole family.
