Spring is in the air, and there’s a glimpse of lighter nights on the way. With the Easter holidays looming, there are plenty of activities to get involved with. From chocolate making to art exhibitions, adventure play, and nature crafts, we’ve got a few suggestions for you if you’re feeling inspired…
YORK’S CHOCOLATE STORY
With tours, chocolate making, and tasting, why not take a visit to York’s Chocolate Story and learn all about the city’s rich history in chocolate making? And, if you fancy getting involved in their big Easter Egg-Stravaganza Hunt, keep your eyes peeled in the city between the 1st-16th April to be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes.
FISH AND CHIPS CRUISE
Fish and chips and views from the Ouse, what better way to spend an hour or two? With various cruise times and dates on offer, why not book with City Cruises for a relaxing springtime activity?
YORK OPEN STUDIOS
If you’re an art appreciator, or maybe you’re an artist yourself…either way, check out York Open Studios this April. On the 15th-16th and 22nd-23rd of the month, witness the work of over 150 artists in their different mediums and at various venues across the city. A great day if you fancy a wander around York.
SKELF ISLAND AT CASTLE HOWARD
Nestled in the grounds of the beautiful stately home, Castle Howard, lies Skelf Island. A place where imaginations can run wild, Skelf Island is host to various rope bridges, slides, nets, and climbing equipment to let any young visitors let off some steam. Whilst you’re at Castle Howard, you can explore the beautiful grounds and grab some delicious cake and coffee from their cosy cafe too.
VISIT MUSEUM GARDENS
York’s Museum Gardens are beautiful regardless of the time of year but come spring, the grounds look magical. With colourful flowers in bloom and fresh, green grass, the gardens are the perfect spot for a stroll or a sit-down. Bring a book and picnic and have yourself a chilled afternoon. Or, if you’ve got the little ones with you, the Museum Gardens are offering springtime gardening activities and trails provided by the Museum.
